Friends … now that the first cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Colorado, it would be remiss of me to not begin addressing this issue for our community, given the intimate nature of our practice.
I have been carefully following reports from the CDC and consulting with practitioners that I respect and trust about best practices. Of course, there is a fine line between taking reasonable preventive action and cultivating fear. My intention is for us to navigate this as we do many things in the BodyMantra practice – with equilibrium, heart and faith.
First and foremost, I need to set some boundaries that we will be implementing for the community from here forward. This is not intended to breed an environment of fear or mistrust, but to be smart about the fact that transmission is happening in the U.S. and we can still gather safely if we all commit to thoughtful precautions.
That said, please respect these guidelines as we enter the upcoming weeks of practice together:
If you have any flu-like symptoms – such as cough, runny nose, sore throat – or respiratory distress, please do not attend BodyMantra.
If you have been traveling, particularly by air and especially if you have been to known COVID-19 areas, please do not attend BodyMantra until you have cleared the incubation period (14 days) and/or been tested for Coronavirus.
We ask that everyone please wash their hands upon arriving and departing, as this is one of the smartest and easiest ways to take care of ourselves related to transmission.
Also, we will not provide yoga mats for the time being, given that they could end up being potential surfaces for transmission. You are welcome to bring your own.
I will continue to track things on this front, as I’m sure all of you will, making the decisions you feel are best for you, body and soul.
My hope is that we will continue to come together for our weekly practice, with each of us acting respectfully with our choices about the health of our community at large. I will continue to communicate with you as things develop on this front, knowing that things are changing rather rapidly these days.
My blessings and gratitude to all – Kimberly
